Eastern Star

Wagner chapter # 111 was instituted in 1916.   It is under the jurisdiction of the Grand Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, State of Louisiana, which is under the jurisdiction of the General Grand Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.

It had long been the dream of Master Masons that female relatives should share, in a measure, the benefits from this knowledge of the great fraternal order of Masons.  Dr. Rob Morris, the master builder of the Eastern Star, shared this dream, and in 1850, hewrote  the ritual, systematized the degrees, incorporated from the pages of antiquity the heroines and names on which the beautiful degree work is builded.  He established the signs and passes, colors and emblems of the order and promulgated the fundamental principals which have remained unchanged through the years.  They are Fidelity, Constancy, Lightly, Purity, Joy, Hope, Immortality, Charity, and Hospitality.

The Grand Order of the Eastern Star participates in many charities, however the Star is very proud of a program that is called ESTARL,  Eastern Star Training Award for Religious Leadership.  This program  awards scholarship to college students whose goal is to be a religious leader.
