John David Crow grew up in Springhill.  He started his football story at the local high school, and went on to become  a Heisman Trophy winner while  playing for Texas A & M.  In addition to that, he was named Player of the Year and elected to the Look All-American Team by the Football Writers Association.  He was the first person from this area to excel nationally, and he has continued to do very well.  Steve Pate & Dan Jenkins published a book about him in 1997.  It is entitled "The Heart of a Champion".  This area is very proud to say that he is one of us.
