                                                                              The Cox Family

The Cox Family is comprised of a father, son and two daughters (Willard the Dad, Sidney the son, Evelyn and Suzanne the daughters). The Louisiana Folk Life Organization has honored them as " Louisiana Legends".  They have become well known for their Bluegrass, Old Timey, and Country Gospel music.

The Cox Family quartet has been performing since 1976, with each child joining the group as they developed their own paths, and it's been a family trip worth taking.

It began with Willard, an oil-field worker who had a love for traditional music, the Grand ole Opry and the Louisiana Hayride.  He says "my favorite position for songwriting was always lying on my back across the bed with my feet propped up on the edge if the dresser table".

The family's musical influences includes everyone from Hank Williams and Jim Reeves to Elvis Presley.  They have entertained all over the US & also in England.  They  earned 2 Grammy Awards, plus a gold record.  They did much of the sound track for the movie "Brother Where Art Thou".

Their home is Cotton Valley, Louisiana.  Willard lives just a short distance from where he was born.
