Springhill Civic Club
The Springhill Civic Club is a women’s service organization that has served
the Springhill and surrounding area for over 52 years. Our motto since
1947 has been “Responding to Civic Pride”. It is our goal to make
Springhill a better place to live, rear our children and retire in. We
combine our meetings with a luncheon currently held at the Dock Master’s
Restaurant on the second Wednesday of the month from September through May.
Our meetings begin at 11:45AM and usually end by 1:00PM. September is
a Business Meeting and the rest of the year we have a different speaker each
month from the Ark La Tex region. The topics vary from personal safety
or keeping our children safe, garden information, reports from our
Senators and Legislators, information on legal topics that are of
interest, fashion, our schools, mission trips, and many different
areas. This year our main focus is on our area schools. We will
be sponsoring a different local school each month.
Many of the areas that we have chosen to put our time and funds into include sponsoring a Girl State Delegate as well as a delegate to the Hugh O’Bryan Youth Leadership workshop each year, a scholarship for an outstanding young lady graduate of Springhill High School is given every May, and sponsorship of the Art and Writer’s Fair every spring. We have donated funds to the Ministerial Alliance Food Bank, the Lion’s Club Eye Bank, Webster Parish Library audio tape collection, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, American Cancer Society, just to mention a few. Locally we help with the beautification drive and help to keep the city park in great shape as well as clean our on “special mile” of Louisiana Highway 371. We will be working the Children’s Corner again this year at our annual Lumberjack Festival in October.
We hold only one fund raiser for the year and this year we're going to hold "A Taste of Springhill". (Date to be announced) Local dignitaries and restaurants will serve up their specialties for all to enjoy. One thing we know how to do in Louisiana is cook...and EAT!
If you are new to the area or just interested in helping make a small section of this great state a bit better contact one of our current officers.
