Springhill City Court General Information

Facts

1) Serve Webster parish Ward Two: Includes: Sarepta, Cullen, Shongaloo, Cotton Valley, Evergreen Community,  and Springhill.

2) Limit for filing a civil action: $5,000.00, in proper person, $35,000.00 with representation

DEPOSITS   (CIVIL ACTIONS)

1)  A $150.00 deposit is required for filing a civil suit, against one defendant.
     A $ 175.00 deposit is required for filing a civil suit, against two defendants.

2)  A $125.00 deposit is required for filing a garnishment.

3)  A $200.00 deposit is required for filing an eviction and past due rent suit.

4)  A $175.00 deposit is required for filing an executory judgment suit.

5)  A $225.00 deposit is required for filing a sequestration/executory process suit.

6)  A $125.00 deposit is required for filing a judgment debtor exam.

7)  A $25.00 deposit is required for each additional defendant.

8)  A $100.00 deposit is required for filing a writ of FI FA for seizure.
The deposit is refundable if the court cost is paid.

Criminal Court

Criminal Court is held each Wednesday at 9:30 A.M.,  The Honorable Judge John B Slattery JR, presides/Criminal Deputy Clerk , is Judy Smith.

Juvenile Court

Juvenile Court is held on each Wednesday at 1:30 P.M.

Civil Court

Civil Court proceedings are held on Thursdays as needed.   The Honorable Judge John B Slattery JR, presides/Clerk of Court, Betty Means is present to take minutes and orders for each proceeding.

The Ward Marshall, Morris McClary is present at all court proceedings.  He swears in all witnesses and is an assistant to the judge.

The duties of the Ward Marshall is to serve criminal, civil, juvenile, citations and subpoenas for the court.

Edward Charles Jacobs is the City Attorney.
