The North Webster portion of Louisiana is very  fortune to have  several people that have become  well known nationally.   The Area congratulates each one of these for their accomplishments in their respective fields.  We are very proud to say that you are one of us. Trace Adkins


Trace Adkins
was born in Springhill, Louisiana to Peggy and Aaron Adkins of Sarepta on January 13, 1962.  He attended school in Sarepta, Louisiana.  He graduated from Sarepta High School in May 1980.
 He moved to Nashville

Ashley Blake
Ashley Blake was born in Bossier City, Louisiana to John and Reba Blake on July 25, 1974.  He grew up in Springhill and is a graduate of Shongaloo High School.  He attended Southern Arkansas University and Northwestern State.  In late 2000, Ashley moved to Nashville, Tennessee.  By May 2001, he'd signed a contract with RA Publishing. He has written "The Parent Killer", "Dear Arial", and "Dark Bayou".

 

Cox FamilyThe Cox Family is comprised of a father, son and two daughters (Willard the Dad, Sidney the son, Evelyn and Suzanne the daughters). The Louisiana Folk Life Organization has honored them as " Louisiana Legends".  They have become well known for their Bluegrass, Old Timey, and Country Gospel music.

Their home is Cotton Valley, Louisiana , but they have entertained all over the US & also in England.  They  earned 2 Grammy Awards, plus a gold record.  They did much of the sound track for the movie "Brother Where Art Thou".

Joe StampleyJoe Stampley grew up in Springhill and a large number of his family members  still reside here.  In the 60's, Joe was the lead singer for the pop/rock group, The Uniques. They began performing in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas. They  soon found themselves in great demand.

Joe went on his own and has done really well. He was one of the first artists to build a bridge between rock & rock & roll, rhythm. and blues and country music, Joe Stampley pioneered what came to be known as the "new country"  a decade or more before that marketing niche had been give a name.   Joe now lives is Nashville, TN. He may be in Tennessee now, but you cannot take Springhill out of a person, wherever he goes.   You can find out more about him on his  website.  

John David Crow grew up in Springhill. He started his football story at the local high John David Crowschool, and went on to become  a Heisman Trophy winner while playing for Texas A & M.  In addition to that, he was named Player of the Year and elected to the Look All-American Team by the Football Writers Association.  He was the first person from this area to excel nationally, and he has continued to do very well.  Steve Pate & Dan Jenkins published a book about him in 1997.  It is entitled "The Heart of a Champion".  This area is very proud to say that he is one of us.
